Artist Bio

I grew up with a fairly nomadic military childhood. Since a young age I had an interest in artwork. I began with drawing inspired by the drawings my father had done, and super-heros, and funny characters he would draw for me.

As a young man I was very much inspired by my Grandmother Rva Hanson, and always loved the time that was spent learning about art and life with her. I had little formal training, with exception of a few seminars here and there, and a bit of time spent at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, not to mention some good artistic friends.

I am a lover of the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and the Western coast in general. I would like to incorporate part of this spirit into my art, but have not yet.

Currently, I have found myself in the technology/computer field, and am acquiring a renewed interest in my artwork after a period of waxing, and waning. I am trying to solidify my style, and take a more serious interest again in something which brings me more happiness than most things.

I take inspiration from many sources, but mainly, I appreciate the artists, Albrecht Dürer, Andrew Wyeth, Ivan Shishkin, Isac Levitan, and many of the other past Russian painters. With out a doubt I appreciate Leonardo Da Vinci, and Andreas Vasalius as well. My Favorite Philosopher BTW, is Descartes.

In my work, I like to express the energy of figures, faces, action, and dramatic lighting. I like art that tells a story, and makes you look at it in different ways each time.
